How to get a Residencia (Permit of Residence) for Spain
A residence card is required if you plan to stay more than 6 months in Spain. In order to apply for a permit of residence go to the Foreigner department at the National Police Office (in Alicante : Avda Julian Besteiro, 15. – Tel: 00 34 965107200)
If you are a European Union citizen, You need:
- Completed application form
- Four passport size photographs
- Copy of your passport
EU citizens no longer need to a visa, show proof of income or medical insurance.
Your Residencia will renewable every five years. EU citizens don’t need a work permit in Spain
If you are a Non-European Union citizen , You need:
- Completed application form
- A visa
- Copy of valid passport
- three passport-size photographs
- proof of income and bank statement
- Medical insurance from a Spanish company or entitlement to enter the Spanish health system
- Consular inscription
the application is subject to a fee from the Foreigner department. You will also need a work permit to work in Spain.
If you don’t want to do the procedure by yourself you can hire a gestor at a reasonable fee to do it for yourself. A gestor is a register agent expert in dealing with government matter.
